Aprés Ski Stories Volume 1
There’s a special kind of excitement that comes with prepping for a snow trip, in our case, the weekend before Thanksgiving in Tahoe.
Thermals? ✔️
Gloves for everyone? ✔️
Beanies, goggles, extra socks, snacks for the drive, playlists lined up just right? ✔️✔️✔️
The car was packed, every inch maximized. We even squeezed in après-ski essentials (bubbles + chocolate).
Next stop: Sports Basement. Skis tuned, boots fitted, helmets secured. If you know, you know, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel fully dialed, even if your main plan is mountain air and cozy moments. We left feeling ready.
Or so we thought.
Because somewhere between layering outfits and congratulating ourselves on being that prepared…
we forgot the one thing that matters most.
Did we actually check if there was snow?
Not the forecast. Oops. In fact the snowpack in Tahoe has been far below average so far this season with little natural snow through mid-December already.
And that’s the funny thing about Tahoe trips, sometimes your plans lead you to the slopes… and sometimes they lead you to gridlock, drama or straight to the fire pit.
Rosy cheeks. Warm drinks. Sour Patch Kids. Cozy layers.
And hair + skin that still feel amazing after a long day in dry mountain air. We always pack our Savvy Sleepers to swap out for the crisp cotton pillowcases in hotels.
Thankfully on day 2, we found 1 resort in Nevada was open, Mount Rose to the rescue. We posted on Tik Tok here.

Where We Stayed
We stayed at Martis Valley Lodge, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and it was truly amazing.
Newly opened in summer 2025, it felt like the perfect home base for a Tahoe getaway. It’s family-friendly, close to low-key nice restaurants, has easy parking (a huge win with ski gear), and the staff was super-friendly. Whether you’re up early chasing snow or slow-rolling into après, we highly recommend it.
Snow Stories + Glacier ❄️
This trip felt especially fitting for our Après Ski Snow Stories series because it perfectly captured the spirit behind Glacier, our newest Savvy Sleepers shade.
Glacier was inspired by crisp alpine air, icy moments, and the hair journey so many of us are on, wanting healthier, stronger, shinier hair no matter where we sleep. It’s cool, calming, and effortlessly elevated, just like a perfect mountain morning.
Glacier is available now in Standard and King size, making it the perfect addition to your winter (and year-round) routine. Don't forget to add your Glacier matching Savvy Scrunchie in the same icy shade.

Après Ski Style Notes ✨
A personal favorite winter tip: layering is everything. 'I love wearing long-sleeve base layers from SKIMS under my snow looks,' says our founder, Dale Janée. SKIMS actually just did a perfect collab this holiday season with The North Face. Sleek, warm, and perfect for transitioning from outdoors to lodge lounging. Speaking of lounging, It was nap time for our toddler while the older ones hit the bunny slope.
And of course…
satin pillowcases are a must, especially in cold, dry mountain climates. They help protect hair and skin overnight when heaters are running and hydration is low. Our travel-size Savvy Sleepers pillowcase never leaves our bag, absolutely essential for road trips, hotel stays, and switching sleep setups without sacrificing beauty sleep.

Savvy Tips for the Ultimate Après Ski
Always check the real snow report, day-of, not vibes-based
Layer smart: thermal base layers + cozy outerwear = après-ready
Bring your Savvy Sleepers pillowcase (travel size is clutch for road trips)
Protect hair & skin overnight, mountain air is no joke
Lean into the moment: fire pits, hot tubs, slow mornings all count. No need for 'Savvy Splitends' after the weekend
Choose a hotel that makes things easy, parking, comfort, and good energy, complimentary breakfast go a long way
