Meet Brittany Longden - Savvy Sleepers Sales & Marketing Director

Posted on

Brittany Longden is our Sales & Marketing Director and often the voice of our social media. If you haven't met Brittany via email, at the Las Vegas IBS tradeshow or one of our Bay Area or Dallas events, now is your chance to learn more about Brittany and her business, beauty and hair tips!

Q. Where did you grow up and what was your major at Chico State?

Brittany - I grew up in Brentwood, the smaller farm town in Northern California. After many changes to my major, I chose marketing at Chico State. At first I was going for nutrition, but am glad I made the switch in the business direction during my last two years.

 Q. You started as an intern for Savvy Sleepers before graduating. Any tips for college graduates about landing an internship?

Brittany - While in college, I highly recommend having a job, even if you feel like you don’t have time for one with all your classes. Offer to help that company with things that interest you. I started up and ran a Facebook business page for my old job (6 years ago that was a newer thing!) and the experience helped me stand out from others applying for the Savvy Sleepers intern position.

 Q. What have been a few of your favorite moments about working with Savvy Sleepers?

Brittany - Some of my favorite moments working for Savvy Sleepers have been helping pave new directions – from choosing new satin pillowcase shades to collaborating with different companies and bloggers. We feel so appreciative to have a successful relationship with Blo Blow Dry Bars and for each new partnership with salons, lash bars, and boutiques around the nation. One of the most exciting times was being featured in the Popsugar MustHave Box, and then later in the 'How to be a Redhead' Box. I am glad to stand with our amazing team and for our products to help people sleep better.

Q. You have amazing hair (you were even picked as a hair model for a dry cut at the IBS Las Vegas tradeshow). Any tips: like products, regular trims, foods, etc. that you think helps with your healthy hair?

Brittany -Thank you, I'm flattered! I use Redken shampoo and conditioner, and only wash my hair 2-3 times a week depending on my workout schedule. I think I just got lucky with thick hair genetics, but maybe it helps that I drink a lot of water and put extra butter on my popcorn. ;)  I also go with an ombre or bayalage to reduce the need to get my hair colored more than once a year. The bleach really dries it out!

Q. You're based in San Francisco, what are a few of your favorite spots in the city? for lunch, coffee, grabbing a cocktail with a girlfriend...

Brittany - I could go on and on about food in the city! But my favorite place to show people new to the city is Spark Social food truck court in Mission Bay near AT&T Park. It’s the cutest set up and has options for everyone. My favorite is Panchita’s Pupuseria for fresh pupusas (traditional Salvadorean stuffed corn tortilla, similar to a quesadilla). On the weekends I love taking a long stroll along the piers of the Embarcadero, and end at The Buena Vista for an Irish Coffee. The perfect spot to warm up and see gorgeous views of the bay.

Q. You work remotely for Savvy Sleepers, any advice for people working from home to stay motivated?

Brittany -Working from home definitely has its ups and downs! You kind of miss out on the team aspect of an office setting, but I feel so lucky to be able to work at my own pace and travel a lot more, allowing for lots more content creation. When you’re passionate about something you don’t need too much motivation, but coffee and setting daily/weekly/monthly goals is a big help!

 Q. What are you most looking forward to in 2018? Personally and professionally?

Brittany - Personally, in 2018 I plan on continuing my goal from 2017, which is facing my fears and trying new things. I know it’s a big one! Whenever I am stubborn about something out of fear of failure, I take a moment and if it’s not going to hurt me, I make sure to push myself to try new things! I tried a bunch of new foods and put myself out there socially and career wise.

You know when you were younger and you hated Brussel sprouts, so growing up you always thought “I hate Brussel sprouts” but never tried them again? I’m taking all those things I’ve collected over the years and trying them a second time. I still don’t like sardines in my Caesar salad or caviar. Although, I do dance confidently a lot more!

Professionally, I plan on getting my work area more organized! It's like a slumber party happened at my desk ;) I'd also love to test new photography techniques, brush up on my communication skills, and meet more people who enrich my life.

xo, Brittany

Thank you for the Q&A Brittany!
