Are Silk and Satin Pillow Cases Vegan?

So what about silk and satin?

Silk pillow cases are not vegan because they are made by silk worms. To get technical, 'The protein fiber of silk is composed mainly of fibroin and produced by certain insect larvae to form cocoons. The best-known type of silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm Bombyx mori reared in captivity (sericulture).' pic via

Satin pillow cases are made of polyester and therefore satin is vegan. However, the quality greatly varies based on the blend of the polyester. This is why so many satin pillow cases sold in stores and online are very light, ultra-shiny and often such a low grade satin; they actually feel irritating or like static against your skin and hair.
